Audrey Horne - No Hay Banda (Tabu Recordings/Candlelight) - Back
“No Hay Banda” is the debut from Norwegian band Audrey Horne. It should be appealing to fans across the spectrum, including Queen of the Stone Age, Velvet Revolver, Foo Fighters, HIM, Faith No More, Audioslave and Monster Magnet. So as you can see it’s some sort of hybrid between melodic rock, hard rock, and goth rock. It’s a nice combination of traits, but it may be a little stale sounding. Not really anything that hovers above the rest. Joe Baressi, who has worked with Queens of the Stone Age and Snake River Conspiracy, did the mixing, and he did a fine job! Audrey Horne already have their first single from the disc, “Confessions & Alcohol”. There has also been a video recorded for the track as well. Overall a good effort for a debut, but a little development wouldn’t hurt. The CD could use a little more vitality. I guess you could say it even bored me at times, but there are parts you can get right into the grove too. Call it dull energy? Maybe it’s just not metal enough for my tastes.
