Belphegor - Pestapokalypse VI (Nuclear Blast Records) - Back
“Pestapokalypse VI” continues Belphegor’s reign into prominence. If this is the first time you’ve heard of Belphegor, then where the hell have you been? Their last couple discs are great representations of what has been good in extreme metal in recent years, and their new release continues this quality, ear-puncturing sound we love to call death/black metal. Many bands will impale your mind as you listen like Nile, Hypocrisy, Morbid Angel, Amon Amarth, and Dark Funeral, to mention just a few. Much of this disc has speed-driven riffs mixed with powerful blasting drums. They don’t hesitate to use the blast beats! I love the intensity! A few melodic death/black parts also are tremendous on this album. Inspiring melodic leads make you wish you were at a show so you can pump your metal horns in the air to the beat. I want to jump up and down in a pit right now! These nine well-built tracks and thirty-eight minutes of blackened death were produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Classen at Stage One Studio in Kassel, Germany. Andy has worked with band like Apshyx, Krisiun, and Rotting Christ. Artist Seth Siron Anton has put together another imaginative album creation as well. It would seem that all aspects of this album were covered…another proficient release from Belphegor.
