Cannibal Corpse - Kill (Metal Blade Records) - Back
Intense, mind-numbing brutality, yep Cannibal Corpse is back! “Kill” is the aptly named, tenth full-length disc for these metallers…every track has to do with their well know lethal style lyrics. As always, there are many astounding brutal riffs, blistering solos, and deep guttural death vocals. Totally brutal! What else would you expect? It’s Cannibal! Guitars squeal with the sounds of a goose getting crushed to death; like a goose’s neck having pressure applied with your foot. Blast beats sound of a well in tuned dragster. Listen to it go! Both contribute to the vicious and furious technique felt throughout. Add to that the brutal and extreme vocal stylings of the Corpsegrinder and you get another first-rate death metal disc from Cannibal Corpse. There are really a host of positively charged tunes including “Make Them Suffer.” “Five Nails Through The Neck,” “Death Walking Terror,” “Barbaric Bludgeonings,” and “Submerged In Boiling Flesh.” Everything else is at least decent. Overall there are thirteen tracks and over forty-two minutes incorporated into this disc. Production was done by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal/ex-Morbid Angel). He did a fine job with “Kill.” Nothing is out of place, and everything sounds good. It can’t hurt to have someone with Erik’s death metal knowledge producing your disc. It may be hard to believe that Cannibal Corpse has been around for eighteen years, but their catalogue shows their history of death metal and the band continues to add great tunes to it. Keep up the excellent brutality!
