Formed in 1989 with a plethora of demos and
sidelined from the world for many years (except of course, those heavily
into the occult underground), Damnation is finally unleashed worldwide!
This is the duo's first official release entitled, "Destructo
Evangelia". I admire this quite immensely simply because Damnation
through the years have gone practically unnoticed (even to my ears),
giving many other bands the spotlight that they may have shared. Not
only that, I just flat out like what I hear. Anyways, here it is at
last! This is a completely raw and aggressive form of black metal
in the vein of bands like Darkthrone and Bathory. Speaking of Bathory,
"Armageddon" is one of the 8 songs included with this release.
The rendition is done fairly well... you'd have to hear it for yourself.
Damnation also incorporate elements of death and thrash metal, especially
in the title track and also "Night Eternal". All in all,
it's not the best occult black metal I've ever heard. It is, however,
a damn good start to a career that should've been heard long ago.
