Dimmu Borgir - Stormblåst (Re-Release) (Nuclear Blast Records) - Back
It’s been a couple years since Dimmu Borgir graced us with new material. These Norwegian metalers have decided to re-release “Stormblåst” as an interlude between “Death Cult Armageddon” and their next release, which will be out in late 2006. To just remix a disc would not be Dimmu Borgir’s way. Shagrath and Silenoz re-recorded everything, with Mustis adding additional keyboards, and Mayhem’s Hellhammer blasting the drums. Metal genius, Peter Tägtgren, whom you should know as the main man in Hypocrisy, produced this disc. Is there anything he can’t do? Anyhow, it might have lost a little of the mystique because it’s not as raw as the original, but it just sounds so good! In addition to the ten totally redone tracks they added two brand new tracks "Sorgens Kammer – Del II" and "Abmaktslave". The first of which will be filmed as a new music video. So if you have the original release like I do, you will still want to complete your Dimmu collection with this disc. In addition they have a live DVD from a complete stage set. This was filmed at the 2004 Ozzfest. According to the Dimmu Borgir website this disc will be released as a digipack including a booklet with tons of classic photos of the band. They will also release this album as a LP with the two new bonus tracks on a bonus single. Dimmu Borgir fans, this will definitely be something you will want to pick up. The original release was good enough to pick up with just the normal 10 tracks, but now with the added bonuses you don’t have any excuses to exclude a re-release. If for some reason you don’t have any Dimmu Borgir in your collection, this disc is a great start!
