||This Finnish 6-piece return with their 5th
opus entitled, “Vantage”! Fall
of the Leafe combines mostly upbeat progressive metal with some
death elements here and there making this particular release a stellar
jewel of melodic magnificence. There stand 12 tracks with nearly an
hour of some of the best melodies you will ever hear in metal! Tuomas'
voice is purely original and certainly comparable to other great melodic
singers such as Simen Hestnaes (Arcturus/Dimmu Borgir) and Carmelo
Orlando (Novembre). Along with some occasional growls, the guitar
work of Kaj and Jussi are as beautifully fluent as the aura of rain.
They along with Miska on the bass guitar have themselves an answer
for not overly technical, yet not too simple. Petri's atmospheres
add much of the spark to the FotL formula making the sound both darker
and dreamy. Oh and how can you forget Matias' trademark rock formations
on the kit. He is definitely a rock and roll drummer. I can't really
think of any particular examples as far as "best" songs,
you'll just have to hear the whole album. No boring moments really.
Fall of the Leafe really space the tempos and feel of the tracks nicely.
Think of Katatonia or Paradise Lost with a much stronger rock element
to it. Basically, "Vantage" is a splendid rock ‘n’
metal longing!! For anyone looking for something strong, look absolutely
