Gorefest - Rise To Ruin (Candlelight Records) - Back
Gorefest was founded by vocalist/bassist Jan-Chris De Koeijer and guitarist Frank Harthoorn in 1989. Their debut album “Mindloss” was released in 1991. And now in 2007 their latest release “Rise To Ruin” may be their best and heaviest assault to date.

After all these years these guys can still really rip shit up. Gorefest’s death attack is filled with catchy heavy riffs, shredding riffs, and thrashy rhythmic riffage…tons of riffs for metalheads to enjoy. Blistering drums provide the pounding brutality and technicality that is needed for this band and they do a good job at keeping the aggression in the songs. Recognizable vocals styling of Jan-Chis De Koeijer are at the helm once again and provide his grim, death metal growls with intensity and clarity rarely seen in the genre.

The eleven tracks and fifty-seven minutes was produced by the legendary Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Mnemic, Kataklysm , Dark Tranquillity, Rob Halford). So yes, it most definitely has a production you can appreciate.

Well there really isn’t much more to say. Gorefest has really put together a rock solid effort here with “Rise To Ruin.” Horns up!
