Knights Of The Abyss - Juggernaut (Candlelight Records) - Back
“Juggernaut” is an aptly named album for the debut from Knights Of The Abyss. When an album is hard hitting, intense and aggressive like what these guys put forth, there isn’t a better name out there for their record than “Juggernaut.”

Knights Of The Abyss is a brutal death/grind concoction crashing with a variation of sounds akin to bands like Cephalic Carnage, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation as well as a little bit of a Swedish death sound in the mix.

“Juggernaut” is fast-paced or mid-paced for the most part, and full of energy. Lots of riff changeovers make this a very active album. They have catchy, heavy galloping riffs, blast beats, rhythmically brutal breakdowns as well as technical ingredients. Vocals are a variation of higher pitch death vox and guttural death vox, and even a number of death metal shrieks.

Cory Spults (Job For A Cowboy) produced the chaos found on this ten song, thirty-six minute onslaught. Nothing is odd or out of the ordinary on the record, which shows this is a solid production.

Not to detract from what these gentleman from Arizona have created, but the chaos did however get to me a few times. With a little more structure Knights Of The Abyss could be headed for a groundbreaking album in the near future. Watch out for this juggernaut, it will run you the hell over!
