Marduk - La Grande Danse Macabre (Regain Records) - Back
Marduk, the living legends, have been one of the staples of black metal for many years. Ever since their beginning in 1990 they have put out some of the most extreme and unmerciful music ever. Along the way they have put out many gems and it continues today.

“La Grande Danse Macabre” is a re-release…it originally came out in 2001 on Blooddawn Productions, which was also released on Century Media and Regain Records as the bands seventh studio album. Blasphemy runs rampant in their music, as one would expect from this Norwegian horde.

As ominous as ever, Marduk includes their cornerstone of blistering drums that shake the foundation of your home; fiery guitars, speeding so fast they spontaneously combust your stereos speakers; and black metal vocals vomited from the devil himself (Legion). There are also a handful of fist pumping riffs to take an evil pleasure in.

“La Grande Danse Macabre” was the last Marduk album to feature Fredrik Andersson on drums, as he was a constant member for the band for their first decade or so.

There is a second disc on this re-release, a DVD of a live show from Zeche Carl, Essen, Germany back in December 2001. Just an added bonus for the true fans out there that may already have this album in their collection.

Several prime cuts are on this release including "Bonds of Unholy Matrimony," the title track "La Grande Danse Macabre," "Death Sex Ejaculation," and "Jesus Christ...Sodomized." As a whole the albums is relentless for eleven tracks and nearly forty-seven minutes with a bonus track cover of the Samhain tune “Samhain” entail. “La Grande Danse Macabre” was recorded at infamous Abyss Studios with recording technician Tommy Tagtgren, mixed by Peter Tagtgren and re-mixed by Devo Andersson.
