The Scourger - Blind Date With Violence (Stay Heavy Records) - Back
I couldn’t wait to listen to this disc after hearing what The Scourger created on their first release. Vocalist Jari Hurskainen and drummer Seppo Tarvainen founded The Scourger. Guitarist Timo Nyberg and voicebox Hurskainen were once members in melodic death band Gandalf. However, this creation can be considered a Finnish thrash metal band with a death metal tinge. I would say a cross between The Haunted, At The Gates, Arch Enemy, and God Dethroned. Galloping, blasting, thrashy riffs decorate “Blind Date With Violence,” their first full-length album. They seem to have the writing skills and cohesion needed for a gripping metal band. The music has a lasting presence too. Even though these musicians have some experience, it’s still hard to believe this is their first album. Blistering and soaring leads and solos help push album towards greatness. They will melt your flesh and sear your entrails! Abrasive and demonic death vocals finish off this album. “Blind Date With Violence” is a kick in the balls that will surely get your attention!!
