Thornspawn - Blood Of The Holy Taint Thy Steel (Baphomet Records) - Back
Being chaotic in your music is one trait that most black metal bands share, and Thornspawn are no exception. This 4 piece Blasphemous Black Metal from San Antonio, Texas definitely showcase chaos in their music. Their sound is much like the early nineties version of black metal when everything wasn't really produced gratefully, but as it did back then, it give the album a dark, eerie feeling. It reminds me of Marduk and a little bit of old Emperor. There are 10 tracks on this CD and it spans over 50 minutes. The songs are generally typical black metal style fast and furious with an occasional catchy riff. My favorite songs on this CD are "Storming The Heavens," "Thrones Of Suspira," and track number 10, which is untitled. This CD was an interesting CD to listen to, but nothing jumped out at me. It's your typical black metal, and anyone that likes blast beats and fast chaotic riffing, this is for you.
