The Fight is an alt-metal band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Today it’s
hard for me to get into such bands because in my opinion the genre has really
run its course, but “The Fire Within” has a little more to offer
than most. Which is a good sign since this is only their 2nd EP release
from what I understand. I don’t think the songs are anything special,
but nothing is bad either. The five members are probably influences by modern
punk, emo and metalcore. In my opinion they are a more metal version of
Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Chevelle, Glassjaw, Bullet For My Valentine, Killswitch
Engage, and Atreyu. At the helm of the band are melodic and screaming vocals,
if you know the bands above then you should know what I mean. There is nice
melodic guitar work and a quantity of heavy chops too. Throw The Fight work
well together and are a pretty tight band. The four tracks and fifteen minutes
plus have some radio appeal. Actually I can hear just about all these tracks
on the air. Mainly because of their appealing choruses. I guess the only
really negative is that the songs don’t seem to conclude all that
well. A couple seem abrupt or they let the guitars ring and fade at the
end like they can’t figure out how to end the song. But, the body
of most songs are good. Throw The Fight have played Vans Warped Tour in
2003, 2005, and you can check them out on the 2007 version this summer.
