Thurisaz - Scent Of A Dream (Hardebaran/Two Fat Men) - Back
Starting in 1997, and after a few demo releases, Thurisaz has now released their debut album, and what a debut! Melodic black metal mostly, but also pagan, dark, doom and death metal can be found within their CD “Scent Of A Dream.” It’s reminiscent of Dimmu Borgir, …And Oceans, Opeth, Borknagar, and a host of others. Their sound is like something that would have came out during the time when black metal bands decided to produce their music instead of being raw. Like early Dimmu Borgir or early …And Oceans. It’s more robust, epic sounding, almost majestic sounding. Vocally there are some that are clean, some with black metal screams, even some death grunts. The dynamics are showcased on track 3, “Years Of Silence,” where they actually get quite tranquil. All songs are good lengths and stay interesting throughout. Simply amazing…”Scent Of A Dream” is excellent from start to finish. Not much else to say except, check these guys out!
