Transatlantic - Bridge Across Forever (Radiant/Metal Blade) - Back
If musicianship is what you are looking for, then Transatlantic has much to offer you. This progressive rock group is made up with musicians that make this band pretty much a supergroup. Roine Stolt of Flower Kings on guitar, Neal Morse, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist from Spock's Beard, Marillion bassist Pete Trewavas, and Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater create a band that is inspiring and impressive. This disk, "Bride Across Forever" is nearly seventy-seven minutes long, which is impressive for a full-length CD. But what is more impressive is that these guys do it in only four songs. The CD starts and ends with songs that are twenty-five minutes plus. This shows in the day of thirty-minute albums that these guys want to play what they want and for however long they want. I enjoyed all four songs on this disk. It might be a little lighter then you expect, but don't let this stop you from listing to Transatlantic. Fans of Dream Theater should enjoy this quite a bit.
